About

Welcome to The Fairy Penguinos page! Most likely you may have saw The Fairy Penguinos episode on YouTube, and if you haven't, check out the YouTube channel of The Fairy Penguinos to see what they're up to.

If you'd like to see my main portfolio, this is the link that will take you.

The Fairy Penguinos first began in 2018. This was the formation of the idea, although a year prior I had come up with some sort of idea of a puppet show using  Perry (a penguin stuffed animal) and Lil 'P. The puppets would be redesigned in puppet form. All the way until the end of 2018 I was planning to make it a puppet show but decided against it because I figured animation would allow for more flexibility, and since I am better as a visual artist, it was the best route to go.

Next, The Fairy Penguinos was going to be a puppet animated show made in Adobe Character Animator but ultimately decided against it after making my first puppet because it seemed too stiff and boring. Of course the episodes would be made a lot quicker, but I like the hand animation instead because it's fun and I've always wanted to be an animator anyways.

The episodes take a few months to make. I first either write the script or draw the storyboard, and then record the voices. Then I begin animating and making sure the frames will match with the length of the audio. I use Krita to animate all character animation. Post production is done in Adobe After Effects entirely. Each episode takes anywhere from 80-130 hours of work. The biggest chunk is done in animating and then adding the beaks to match the sound.

Each act takes about 15-25 hours to draw, colour and adding in the beaks. I don't just use two mouths for talking but multiple for different sounds. I hate doing it but inputting the audio file into Character Animator to convert the mouths into numerical values and assign it to each mouth makes it quicker.

So far I've done Episode 1, 2, 3 and 4 and am working on Episode 5.

The Fairy Penguinos heavily relies on using a lot of computerized animation provided by After Effects and a little bit of 3D. The only thing drawn by hand are the characters, most assets and all backgrounds (other than vectorized backgrounds). Other tools used for the episodes are Paint Tool SAI, Adobe Illustrator (heavily used) and Adobe Photoshop.

The world of The Fairy Penguinos first began to grow when Lil 'P (stuffed toy) got a friend, Bell, in 2017 and then Luther, Snowball and Rainy and Gurry a month later (as a gift from my pops). How I can describe the world is that the story is actually a slice of life science fiction story. Check out the lore page for more information on their story!~
